Harestane Care Home - Dundee

Harestane Care Home - Dundee

Specialising in care of older people, Harestane Care Home was purpose built in 1995.  This home is situated on the northern fringe of Dundee, set in landscaped gardens with woodland to the rear of the grounds, affording an attractive and peaceful environment.

Being purpose built, the accommodation is designed to meet the needs of frail older people and to allow for the provision of professional attention and care, taking into consideration clients’ dignity and respect.

Harestane Care Home originally provided accommodation for 51 clients.  After researching the demand for Nursing Care in and around Dundee, a new wing was added in December 2003, increasing the homes accommodation to 66 beds.

All bedrooms comprise single en suite facilities, with television and telephone points and are fitted with staff call alarms.

Clients may choose whether they bring their own furniture and soft furnishings with them or have them provided by the Home.  They are encouraged to make their room as individualised and homely as possible.

In addition to the en-suite facilities, there are a number of bath and shower rooms equipped with ambulifts and other specialised equipment such as Aqua Libra and Aqua Nova baths.

The home is equipped with a state-of-the-art elevator, handrails, alarm systems and has everything needed to make life as comfortable and secure as possible.

The home has 8 lounges which are all comfortably furnished. Satellite television and a varied programme of activities is available for clients enjoyment.

Hairdressing can be arranged in our own salon, or appointments can be made for this and other services such as dentist, optician or chiropody whenever required.

Nursing and care staff are on duty 24 hours a day and ongoing training from induction to further professional development is an integral part of the Home’s philosophy to continually improve standards of care.

Qualified catering staff provide varied menus which are assessed for nutritional value and dieticians are consulted whenever specialist dietary requirements arise. Clients are consulted on arrival at the Home regarding food likes/dislikes and this is reviewed with them on a regular basis.
