St. Vigeans is a large Victorian House with recent purpose built extension, located in the east coast fishing town of Arbroath. It is situated on an elevated site with sloping, mature gardens and overlooks the North Sea. Nearby are sea front leisure grounds, the harbour and the town centre.
St. Vigeans specialises in residential care for adults with learning disabilities, and our clients are offered the opportunity to develop their independence and potential in all aspects of their life, fully supported by suitably qualified staff.
We offer the highest standards of care and support in comfortable and spacious surroundings.
Most of the accommodation is in single rooms, with some companion rooms if clients express a desire to share. Most of the rooms have en-suite facilities and are fully equipped.
Clients are encouraged to bring along their own personal possessions to make their rooms as individualised and homely as possible.
The home has three spacious lounges all of which are comfortably furnished and have lovely sea views. Television, video and recreational equipment are available for clients’ enjoyment.
The extension has its own lounge/dining facility with access to an enclosed area which includes a sensory garden. Our enclosed walkway links the extension with the original part of the house and provides access to a secluded garden area.
Hairdressing, chiropody, dental and optician services can be arranged in the privacy of the home or externally.
A programme of activities is available during the day, in which clients are encouraged to participate. Programmes are agreed in accordance with the individual needs and wishes of clients.
All staff receive induction training and progress to relevant SVQ or other qualifications. Care staff are on duty 24 hrs a day to give assistance and support whenever required. Nursing care is available from the Primary Care Team or by private arrangement.
Special diets will be catered for, as will likes, dislikes and special requests.
Cottages and Coach House
Two cottages and a coach house within the grounds of St. Vigeans have been tastefully renovated and furnished to a high standard. There are both single and companion rooms within these small units where clients are encouraged to live as independently as possible.
Staff are available to give advice, support and training in independent living skills.
