Back in July we went to an event called “Discs from the Decades” at The Beach Ballroom in Aberdeen.
We travelled there in our Priority Care minibus and had a packed lunch by the beach before the event started. Our group was made up of 4 residents, one relative and 2 carers.
On arriving at the Ballroom we were all very impressed by the beautiful old building. some of the resident in our group had danced there as teenagers and one lady had even met her husband there! This brought back a great many memories and stories to tell.
The music was an excellent mix of 40s, 50s and 60 tunes which got us all up on the dance floor. The whole event was relaxed and welcoming with dancers of all abilities. Professional ballroom dancers weaved their way expertly around wheelchair users who were also on the the dance floor enjoying every minute!
We were served tea, coffee, sausage rolls, cakes and biscuits half way through which were very welcome!
This event also allowed us to meet other Care Home groups and share ideas and tips for Activities!
We rated this a 5 star event for everyone and we look forward to going back again!
